Supplies for Success Program Description
Who are we helping?
Teachers have many challenges everyday in the classroom, and one of those just happens to be not having the materials needed to help with engaging student learning. Having the right tools in the classroom will lead to more success with hands on project based learning. The Napa Valley Education Foundation is reaching out to help support the district’s instructional goals, in relation to project based learning, by helping teachers get the basic supplies they need for classroom instruction. From science to art projects, we are reaching out to our teachers to help get them the much needed “Supplies for Success”. We are supporting specific “project learning” by helping with the purchasing of materials needed for student success.
Why are we helping?
In addition to direct instruction, there is evidence to support that students who get an opportunity to learn by doing, can add to the overall retention of learned material, “Adopting a project-learning approach in your classroom or school can invigorate your learning environment, energizing the curriculum with a real-world relevance and sparking students’ desire to explore, investigate, and understand their world”. edutopia 2011 The NVEF supports the NVUSD by helping our students become life-long learners through hands on project base learning.
